Zoo Trip

A few weeks ago we took our first zoo trip with Beckham! Besides it being unbelievably hot, it was a lot of fun!! He does so well in a carrier. As long as he is fed and dry, he passes out completely! Obviously, this zoo trip was more for us than anything, but Travis and I are huge animal lovers and we are training Beckham to be as well :)

Our favorite animals at the zoo were the polar bears and the walruses. The tigers were also very cool, but they were napping and weren't too interesting.

huh?
haha. he's such a cutie pie

Here are some videos I took of our favorite animals! You can ignore my commentary as I tease my nephews about the otters and how the wallabies look like giant rats.

As far as Beckham's growth is concerned, he is apparently small, but has grown significantly since his last checkup. But let's be honest, we've never had high hopes for him to be tall considering I am just under 5'4" and Travis is 5'9".

Here are his stats!

Weight: 12lbs 10.3 oz (32nd percentile)
Height: 23 in (39th percentile)
Head Circumference: 16 in (86th percentile)

Our little guy has quite the noggin! It has grown 2 inches since he was born 12 weeks ago!

In other news, we have started the transition from sleeping in his swing to sleeping in his crib. His pediatrician told us to prop up one side of his mattress with a phone book, that way he still is sleeping at an angle (which he likes) and slowly decrease the angle until he eventually sleeps flat on his back. So far it has been difficult to say the least. Both Beckham and I have been tired and cranky the past few days.  I'm trying to do everything I can without putting him at risk for SIDS. But he is making it difficult since he doesn't like to lay in the open. We swaddle him, which helps a lot, but he really likes the feeling of something beside him. I'm guessing he likes it that way because that was how it was when he was in my belly for 9 months! Something else I have been doing is rubbing lavender oil on his chest right before bed. Any tips that my mom friends have would be much appreciated!

Love,
Lindsay

  1. I love this! Lotte also is a small baby - 6th percentile for weight. Gah! Its so frustrating and Ive had to learn not to blame myself. Our babes just have high metobolisms! About the sleeping situation. Lotte used to LOVE being swaddled and sleeping in her rocker - or in bed with us. She wouldn't sleep any other way. I've been putting her in her crib for the past couple weeks - the first week was pretty hard but she is doing better now. I just make sure I wear her out throughout the day, ha. As far as the swaddling, she just started kicking out of it, like she didn't care for it anymore. Maybe Beckham will do the same thing. I think if thats what he likes theres no harm in it. But I definitely would keep trying to get him to sleep in his crib. Once he gets the hang of it, you'll sleep tons better!
